About the business

Our client, Finverse Technologies is a leading B2B software company that specializes in creating digital solutions for the lending industry in North America and Europe. They have many years of experience in building diverse solutions for loan origination, underwriting, and portfolio management.

Finverse decided to enter the UK mortgage market with a new solution. Their goal was to build a brand new white-label customizable mortgage platform. It should be able to serve both end-users applying for mortgages and financial professionals managing and issuing them. Our task was to scope, design, and develop the platform from scratch.

Mortexa should be a powerful, modular mortgage solution that offers an exceptional digital experience for borrowers, while equipping managers with advanced tools for processing, compliance, and customer communication. It should become a flagship product in Finverse’s portfolio. Keeping this ambitious goal in mind, we started out cooperation.

OVERVIEW

Project Tasks and Challenges

Finverse had an ambitious goal in mind to start with the scoping and go to fully featured market-ready mortgage platform within just 11–12 months. On top of that, their goal was to do it without compromising on product quality, security, or scalability. To achieve the goal we offered a structured, iterative development approach that includes 3 key phases:

  • Discovery & Scoping – We collaborated with Finverse’s product and operational teams to define user personas, map out key workflows for borrowers and managers, prioritize Mortexa features, and align tech requirements with the business roadmap.
  • MVP Development – We wanted to deliver a seamless borrower-side experience and integrate core management features. Among them should be onboarding, application tracking, document management, role-based access, and communication tools.
  • Full-featured V1 – After building an MVP, we should start adding advanced configurability, white-label branding, deeper analytics, and mobile access.

Throughout the design and development process, we faced and successfully addressed these key challenges:

  • The platform needed to support 2 distinct user flows and combine a seamless experience for individual borrowers, and a powerful operational interface for mortgage professionals.
  • White-label customization should be added so that Finverse’s clients could tailor Mortexa to their brand and operational model. This required building dynamic configuration layers for UI, workflows, product rules, and user roles.
  • Regulatory and documentation complexity required design of robust systems for secure document exchange, audit logging, permissions, and compliance with lending regulations.
  • The platform needed to handle the complete lifecycle of a mortgage application - from pre-qualification to final approval and servicing.
  • Built-in collaboration tools should be present for operational teams, including internal communication features helping to streamline application review and decision-making.

Case Management Workspace

We created a centralized dashboard to help brokers and managers efficiently overview and manage all active mortgage cases. The dashboard combines clarity and automation to support complex mortgage operations. It offers the following functionality:

  • Real-time visibility into all open cases with status updates
  • Customizable filters and timeline-based sorting to easily organize workloads
  • Priority indicators helping to quickly spot urgent or delayed applications

Thanks to this dashboard, Mortexa users gain total operational control, minimize possible delays, and improve transparency across all critical stages of the mortgage application journey.

Integrated Mortgage Sourcing Engine

Our client wanted to integrate a powerful mortgage sourcing engine to help brokers and managers quickly find, compare, and recommend the most suitable mortgage options for multiple lenders.

The engine was designed by our team and offered smart automation and intuitive UX so that every step could be easy to complete. This feature supports:

  • Real-time affordability calculations are performed based on borrower data.
  • Eligibility validation option helping to recommend only qualified products.
  • Handling of complex scenarios like porting, interest-only, and multi-borrower.

Client Portal

We designed responsive web and mobile interfaces helping borrowers to easily access and use an application-branded portal. Borrowers can check the real-time status of their application, upload all required documents, and keep everything organized in one digital space.

Mortexa offers a built-in chat system that is secure due to using encryption standards. It makes communication between borrowers and mortgage advisors transparent and seamless. We optimized the chat system for mobile and desktop devices and created a consistent UX.

While designing the onboarding flow, we integrated an intuitive mortgage calculator. It should help Mortexa users explore realistic scenarios and affordability before committing to a mortgage application. The calculator offers:

  • Monthly payment estimates based on data like property value, deposit amount, loan term, and interest rate.
  • Instant adjustments as users adjust variables. Mortexa provides insights on how different scenarios can affect affordability.

A mortgage calculator helps users gain financial clarity from the start. It also reduces borrowers drop-offs and helps them build confidence in their mortgage decisions.

Secure Document Management

We designed an intuitive and secure document management experience that simplifies how borrowers work with all documents required for the mortgage application.

Using Mortexa borrowers can upload multiple files at once such as income statements, ID proof, and bank records and assign them to the relevant cases or co-applicants. Each document can be renamed and previewed from a centralized dashboard.

We added progress indicators showing document completion status. There is also an option to flag any missing files.

Credit Report Access

We integrated functionality helping borrower’s to view and retrieve full credit reports directly within Mortexa. It is available at no cost and with one-click full permission sharing for their advisor.

The report is pulled securely from leading credit bureaus like Equifax and displayed in a clear, easy-to-read format. It highlights key factors such as credit score, open accounts, and payment history to help borrowers understand their financial position in real time.

Advisors can get access to the borrower’s report to assess eligibility and adjust mortgage recommendations without any delays.

We designed and implemented a robust feature set for mortgage applicants and brokers. This feature set was scoped and prioritized during the discovery phase and delivered in two major stages: MVP and full-featured V1.

For Managers & Brokers

  • Borrower profiles. Each applicant’s data (personal information, application status, and document set) is saved and aggregated into a single view to help managers make more informed decisions faster.
  • Document and communication tools. Managers can securely review uploaded documents, flag missing files, leave comments, or request clarifications from applicants. All this is possible by using a convenient built-in messaging system.
  • Recommendation reporting. Based on client data and product selection, Mortexa can automatically generate suitability reports that meet UK advisory and documentation standards.
  • Team productivity and compliance controls. Mortexa supports role-based access, audit trails, compliance tagging, and automated reminders that help brokers and teams meet internal policies and FCA requirements.

For Mortgage Applicants

  • Step-by-step onboarding with clear guidance. We designed an intuitive onboarding process with clear actions at each stage. It captures all fact-find data in a structured and easily to review format.
  • Real-time application status tracking. Users can track where they are in the mortgage process, what steps remain, and which documents or actions are incomplete.
  • In-app communication tools. Mortgage applicants can communicate with their broker or manager using secure built-in messaging system. It saves a case history ensuring transparency and compliance.

PROJECT JOURNEY

Development approach

To create and launch Mortexa on a tight timeline, we performed the full-cycle development. We broke the work into smaller, manageable phases. Here’s how the journey looked like:

Phase 1: Discovery & Scoping (2 weeks)

We kicked things off with a two-week discovery sprint to turn product vision into a development plan. During this phase, we:

  • Mapped out user journeys for borrowers and brokers
  • Identified key workflows and defined feature priorities
  • Built a phased roadmap for both the MVP and full V1

Phase 2: MVP Development (6 months)

Then we designed, built and launched an MVP with core features delivering value for borrowers and managers:

  • Intuitive onboarding and role-based permissions
  • Case management tools for brokers
  • Mortgage product comparison tools
  • Secure messaging tools
  • A responsive mobile interface

Phase 3: Full-featured V1 (5 months)

Once the MVP was ready, we proceeded with extending its configuration, features and tools set. We introduced new capabilities such as:

  • Tools for generating suitability reports
  • Multi-applicant case handling
  • Admin panel with configuration options
  • Extended compliance and audit trail coverage

Tech approach we used

We were building Mortexa with scalability in mind. So we selected a modern tech stack that offered speed, flexibility, and was easy to maintain.

  • React and React Native were used to build responsive web and mobile applications with a shared logic layer, ensuring a consistent UX across platforms.
  • Node.js with NestJS was selected to structure the platform in a modular way that fits the white-label deployment.
  • AWS was chosen for hosting, Docker for containerization, and ECS, with fully-automated CI/CD pipelines for fast, reliable releases.
  • We also implemented strong security measures, including OAuth2-based authentication, role-based access control, data encryption, and audit logging.

OUTCOME

We designed, built, and delivered Mortexa on time and with full alignment to the client’s strategic goals. In just 11 months, we helped Finverse transform its product vision into a market-ready mortgage platform and achieve significant outcomes:

  • A client portal and mobile app we created for borrowers helped businesses using Mortexa to cut borrower onboarding time by 40%.
  • A powerful case management system and mortgage sourcing engine increased operational efficiency by up to 30% and reduced turnaround times by 25%.
