The situation

Cordic is a fleet-management SaaS provider for taxis in the United Kingdom. Cab companies join it to form a single pool of jobs large enough to compete with Uber and other large players.

To stay competitive, these companies have to react quickly to ride requests and, even more, to what drivers need and expect. Cordic wanted a white-label, cross-platform mobile app that adapts to different devices and screens, covers the driver's critical needs with a modern look, keeps drivers engaged, raises brand awareness, helps fleets recruit drivers and gives partners more business opportunities.

What we did

The app was designed and built over discovery, and then design and development ran in parallel. We simplified registration and bidding on jobs, set out a straightforward fare structure and added driver support for urgent situations such as a mix-up between driver and rider or app errors. A finance section covers fare structure and financial goals, earnings summary and progress, payment methods and costs linked to rides.

Drivers also get navigation basics such as lane guidance and real-time traffic, a route preview with turn-by-turn zoom, speed alerts, mandatory breaks that take a driver offline to rest, and an SOS button to contact the police in case of a threat, emergency or accident.

We built the app with the Ionic framework, whose native functions and gestures made a low-maintenance cross-platform app possible. It has a module-based structure that makes features easy to customize, and a design system for themes with consistent visuals, fonts, spacing and colors used in set contexts.

The result

Cordic got a clean, intuitive white-label app with safety features that give drivers more control while they drive, tools for tracking performance and earnings, and a structure each fleet can customize.

About the business

Cordic is a leading fleet management SaaS provider to UK taxis. A few years ago, over 60 English cab companies have successfully joined Cordic to form a single pool of jobs, big enough to withstand competition with Uber and giants alike.

Today, to remain competitive and marketable, not only do they need to quickly react to ride requests but, more importantly, they must instantly respond to driver needs and continuously cater to their expectations.

Outcome

Due to its native functionalities, exhaustive gestures, and customizable tools, the Ionic framework allowed us not only to create a cross-platform, low-maintenance application but also to cut out design tasks like wireframe development early into the project.

We have introduced the module-based structure to simplify customization of features, developed a styled design system to allow for theme able yet consistent visuals, fonts, and spacing as well as specified the primary, secondary and tertiary colors to be used in specific contexts.

Simple architecture, clean and intuitive interface, layered components and selected customization possibilities

Set of technology-focused safety features that provide drivers with more control and peace of mind while busy driving

Optimized in-app operations for mapping out professional development and comprehensive performance tracking

Effortless interactions, engaging opportunities and palpably rewarding experience to fuel substantive, steadfast commitment to Cordic apps
